Rainy Season

With the rainy season here, Old Hope Sschool has been badly flooded again. For students’ safety, all classes are suspended and students are to remain at home until further notice.

A New Learning Centre

We are delighted to celebrate the opening of a new learning centre in Sihanouk village. This centre gives children in the community a safe and welcoming place to learn, develop their skills, and grow in confidence. It will provide new opportunities for education and help children build a brighter future for themselves and their village.

Meals for Sen Chay Government School

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” but a nourishing meal each week helps keep hunger away for students at Sen Chay Government School. Through Allan’s generous donation, students at Sen Chay School and two other government schools were able to enjoy a decent and fulfilling meal. For many of these children, this regular meal is an important source of nourishment. The meal may be simple, but its impact is significant. We are deeply grateful to Allan and his generosity is making a meaningful difference in the health and education of children in these communities.

Meals for Hope Schools

Thanks to Allan’s continued donations, nutritious meals can be provided to students at all Hope Schools. Although these meals are simple and not a luxury, they are filling and provide the nourishment children need to stay healthy. Allan’s generosity makes a meaningful difference in the lives of many students and supports their education and well-being.

Activities at Hope Schools

Our teachers are regularly supported through Foo Yong Kwong’s monthly contributions. This generous support helps us support part of our teachers monthly salary. Despite their salary not matching those offered in the education sector, the teachers make many personal sacrifices to educate, encourage, and guide the children in our schools. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Foo Yong Kwong for this faithful support.

Fun At New HS

Teacher Sophea has always been innovative in managing New Hope School. At times, she plans games instead of conducting a regular lesson, making learning enjoyable and encouraging students to look forward to coming to school.

With the donated sum, we had managed to do what we can. Though still incomplete, we are thankful for the donors for their kind contributions and that had enable us to make a giant step towards a building a permanent structure for Hope School.

It's happening!!!! Hope School finally will have a more permanent building made of concrete albeit not fully yet. With the little money raised, we started constructing a concrete building for Hope School so that we will not be always at the mercy of the flood whenever it rains and also to provide a better housing for our full time teacher.

Concrete foundation laid, brick wall to the floor level done post (column) constructed and floor beam done. All

We hope to provide a permanent structure whereby classed at Hope School will be conducted.

March had turn out to be a surprising month. Out of the blue, 2 families enquire through one of our friend whether they could pay a visit to Hope School and be a blessing to the students at Hope School.

We are thankful for Angeline family and Jasmine family who spend half a day at Hope School on 15 March. Each family teach a class and serve refreshments to the students. Out of their own pockets, they bought milo, biscuits and even a gift backpack with some stationeries.

The students not only enjoyed the refreshments but also their teaching and they were glad to have both families spending time with them in Siem Reap.

God bless both the families.

“I do believe something magical can happen when you read a book” J.K. Rowling.

Indeed we believed in providing all opportunities for kids to read books, so never underestimate the power for providing simple books for reading. We had collected quite a few Kindergarten 1 books and pictorial books from Singapore and had brought them to Hope School about two years ago and for the past two years at Hope School and we are seeing that it is bearing fruits. It bless our hearts to see students spending their time reading or just browsing these books whenever they are at Hope School. It is a joy to see the students enjoying reading the books.

Do email us if you have any books to donate to Hope School.

Reflecting on Hope School after more than 3 years supporting it, this is what we would like to make known to all who believed in our works, “No Strings Attached”.

Even though the whole expenses of running Hope School had been provided by us, we had never put any conditions to those attending the classes. We would like to support the School with no strings attached, not even to seek self-gratification. We simply believe in giving back to society as we had been much blessed. We thanked God that we had during our young days, the opportunities to attend school, which had given us a head-start in life and thus giving us the means to provide for other now.

To all who had given in the past and still giving when the need arises, our heartfelt and sincere thanks, as it encourages us to empower the students in Hope School through linguistic skills.

God bless and a Happy 2017 year from all the students of Hope School!!!

Hope School is a place where we not only provide literacy skills and now some basic computing skills but also a “home” for wholesome activity. With this in mind, games were provided and sponsored by generous donors for the students to have a great time relaxing and enjoying these activities.

All this can only happens to our friends who generously donate the games. Thank you!!!

Another exciting month for Hope School. We had a group of 3 volunteers bringing joy to Hope School. Students were having fun learning English through bingo game, forming words from pictures. There were laughter all around as they learn words through songs too.  Thank you Chloe,  Samuel and his wife, Mary.

The whole volunteers’ trip ended with the Graduation Ceremony for Hope Schools’ students. It was a great joy to see students staying with us for the whole year and now either progressing to the working world or to the next level. We were also privilege to have a representative from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to attend this ceremony and to provide words of encouragement to the students.

The raining season had started and it had affected the number of students attending the classes but still we are glad to see some still attending the classes despite the flood. This is how hungry some of the students are!!! So let’s not be fainthearted because of these minor setback.

As we are seeing our new land at Hope School being been flooded, we decided to take the opportunity of the coming election whereby permits are easily obtained for construction work.

We are aiming to raise the land to above the road level which will ensure that Hope School will not be flooded and to at least to construct a concrete floor and the columns for future wall.  This will give us a better environment to have classes without much disruption.  To do just these, we need about US$7500 and to show our commitment, I will match dollar to dollar, up to a max of Singapore $5000, which is the best I can do.

Do support us, as every dollars collected will be used solely for this building project

Hope School has made commendable progress since 2013. It has two branches now and help has reached many more poor village kids. We are now officially running Hope School at 2 locations. The old one is still on going, while the new one is slowly building up with more students.
We are able to do so because of generous donor like Mrs Jessie Yin, who had committed to assist us for a year, in topping up the pay of the part time teacher to be converted to a full time teacher at the new location. So now have 2 full time teacher, one at each location.

In buying this piece of land at the new location, it provides a much needed space for the students to be involve in wholesome activities. Was so glad that the students were having fun playing volleyball at the new location. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so well applied to Hope School students!!!

This is the model that I had wished for, to replicate more Hope Schools at various villages, by God’s grace and by supporters who believed in our work.

Aug month had proven to be another milestone for Hope School. Thanks to donors who had given us the few laptops, Hope School had started a small computer class with a few students. Every contribution by donor in terms of monetary or in items will have a great impact on these students at Hope School continue to support our cause.

The staff had also put in a little of what they had to buy a small truck load of soil. Tis is in preparation of the coming raining season as they school will be flooded and the teacher’s will not be able to sleep and to conduct classes. It will not do much changed with these little soil but every single grain of soil added up in time will surely help Hope School.

Cheers as we journeyed on to bring a little blessing and some hope to these students at Hope School.
