Rainy Season

With the rainy season here, Old Hope Sschool has been badly flooded again. For students’ safety, all classes are suspended and students are to remain at home until further notice.

A New Learning Centre

We are delighted to celebrate the opening of a new learning centre in Sihanouk village. This centre gives children in the community a safe and welcoming place to learn, develop their skills, and grow in confidence. It will provide new opportunities for education and help children build a brighter future for themselves and their village.

Meals for Sen Chay Government School

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” but a nourishing meal each week helps keep hunger away for students at Sen Chay Government School. Through Allan’s generous donation, students at Sen Chay School and two other government schools were able to enjoy a decent and fulfilling meal. For many of these children, this regular meal is an important source of nourishment. The meal may be simple, but its impact is significant. We are deeply grateful to Allan and his generosity is making a meaningful difference in the health and education of children in these communities.

Meals for Hope Schools

Thanks to Allan’s continued donations, nutritious meals can be provided to students at all Hope Schools. Although these meals are simple and not a luxury, they are filling and provide the nourishment children need to stay healthy. Allan’s generosity makes a meaningful difference in the lives of many students and supports their education and well-being.

Activities at Hope Schools

Our teachers are regularly supported through Foo Yong Kwong’s monthly contributions. This generous support helps us support part of our teachers monthly salary. Despite their salary not matching those offered in the education sector, the teachers make many personal sacrifices to educate, encourage, and guide the children in our schools. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Foo Yong Kwong for this faithful support.

Fun At New HS

Teacher Sophea has always been innovative in managing New Hope School. At times, she plans games instead of conducting a regular lesson, making learning enjoyable and encouraging students to look forward to coming to school.

Entering another month of lockdown!

As the COVID-19 situation continues, we are grateful for the donation from Mr Yin KK that enables us to buy basic essentials for the poor villagers in Siem Reap.
They had been hit hard as tourism had shrank by more than 90% and there is no income for many of them. We pray that with the little basic essentials that is given will help ease their situation.

Food Distribution to 65 families!!!

This had been a trying time for the Cambodians. The corona virus had impacted all countries and Cambodia being a third world country felt the impact in a greater way. Siem Reap which had been largely dependent on tourism had seen the visitors drying up immediately after many countries had imposed travel ban.

Thankful to Allan for his additional US$150, and together with my US$350 we were able to provide essentials such as rich, cooking oil and some dried stuff to more 65 families!

Hopefully, this small effort can provide these 65 families some relief in these hard times.

Teacher Phear In Action
Our newly appointed Teacher Phear conducting a class in the community school (before the closure order). The school is located in the Poor Community Village. By providing free English classes, we hope to break the poverty cycle. It may take years to see the end result, but we do what we can for the time being. Thank you Teacher Phear for taking up this challenge.

Started year with a Bang!!!

Hope Schools started the year with a party for all our students. It was by students, for students and with students.

The older students planned the party and carried out games for the party. They even make it a point to serve the younger students. All these done with the guidance of the teachers and Bro Arun.

Great works Arun and all the teachers!

A new teacher arises- Teacher Phear

We are sad to see Teacher Pai leaving but as  his family needs him to work to support his family, we sadly "release" him Thankfully there's always some local who will rise up to the challenge to be our teacher at Community School.

Phear, a student of Teacher Daven had agreed to teach the 2 classes in the community school from 5-6pm and 6-7pm, Mon to Friday. He is still studying at Grade 11 and was brave to take up this assignment to teach the young kids at community school.

Thank you Teacher Phear!!!

Arising to help!

We are thankful to the locals who will stand in whenever the need arises. Teacher Pai was unable to conduct class during one of the week due to personal commitments.

Pie a student of Teacher Daven, studying at grade 11, though a little well versed in English, took the challenge to teach with Arun helping out and prepared refreshments for the students.

A new skill to make a living

Bearing fruits of the initiatives started by Teacher Daven. He not only teaches English to the students and in between classes he also imparted his skills as a silversmith to some of the students.

These students were able to create simple costume jewelry and at times able to make a few dollars by selling these handmade jewelry to a shop.
