Rainy Season

With the rainy season here, Old Hope Sschool has been badly flooded again. For students’ safety, all classes are suspended and students are to remain at home until further notice.

A New Learning Centre

We are delighted to celebrate the opening of a new learning centre in Sihanouk village. This centre gives children in the community a safe and welcoming place to learn, develop their skills, and grow in confidence. It will provide new opportunities for education and help children build a brighter future for themselves and their village.

Meals for Sen Chay Government School

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” but a nourishing meal each week helps keep hunger away for students at Sen Chay Government School. Through Allan’s generous donation, students at Sen Chay School and two other government schools were able to enjoy a decent and fulfilling meal. For many of these children, this regular meal is an important source of nourishment. The meal may be simple, but its impact is significant. We are deeply grateful to Allan and his generosity is making a meaningful difference in the health and education of children in these communities.

Meals for Hope Schools

Thanks to Allan’s continued donations, nutritious meals can be provided to students at all Hope Schools. Although these meals are simple and not a luxury, they are filling and provide the nourishment children need to stay healthy. Allan’s generosity makes a meaningful difference in the lives of many students and supports their education and well-being.

Activities at Hope Schools

Our teachers are regularly supported through Foo Yong Kwong’s monthly contributions. This generous support helps us support part of our teachers monthly salary. Despite their salary not matching those offered in the education sector, the teachers make many personal sacrifices to educate, encourage, and guide the children in our schools. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Foo Yong Kwong for this faithful support.

Fun At New HS

Teacher Sophea has always been innovative in managing New Hope School. At times, she plans games instead of conducting a regular lesson, making learning enjoyable and encouraging students to look forward to coming to school.

Graduation Ceremony!!!

It was another exciting month for Hope School. We celebrated our Graduation Ceremony on 1 Nov. The school had grown to 193 students and we are now operating three schools. It was not our effort but by God’s grace and through the commitment of the locals that we are able to be where we are now.

Hope School is not a religious center. It is a humanitarian works that we seek to empower the people of Siem Reap, especially the youngster, with linguistic skills for a better future.

Thus we welcome 4 monks this August, with open arms, when they wanted to learn English at New Hope school, even though we may be Christians.

As quoted from Allan Tan "Helping people is above religious differences at Hope School". We seek to help all regardless of your religion or ethnic groups.

It had been a great 6 years since Hope School started. We are thankful for the supports of friends, relatives and colleagues who gave in aid of running Hope Schools and the Community School.

It was with these supports that Hope Schools can continue to exist and grow from strength to strength.

Extract from one of the student who shared reecently

"One year after learning in Hope School, I get knowledge and I can speak , write listen and read. And I also learn about moral and ethics. The teacher often give advice and tell strategy how to learn English and be a good student as well."

Attached are the sharings from the 4 students, although not written in good English, it was a vast improvement from not being able to read A, B, C.

.6 years, that's how long Hope School had been in existence. We are indeed privileged to be part of this journey and building up the schools from scratch.

It was through the support of many friends, colleagues (both present and ex) and relatives that we managed to last so long.

Looking forward for more great years at all Hope Schools and not to forget, it was the grace of God that enables us to sustain that long.

Visit our Gallery to see lots of other photos on the celebration.

A young teacher, Teacher Daven, joined Hope School recently, and besides teaching, he imparted his silversmith skills to some of the students. The products are put to sale at a nearby night market. This is a very unexpected, desired outcome for the School. Hopefully some of the students will hone their skills and make a living out of it when they reach adulthood.

We are so so proud of @siemreaphopeschool students who learned metalwork and to make such intricate designs! Real change and transformation is happening to the students' lives and future through Hope School. We will only know the full extent of the fruits of our labour in heaven!

They are a great local team. always had the students in mind, teaching and planning for some activities.

Into the 2nd month of the year and things are happening. Thanks to the kind donations of Sofia and Jessie, we bought some 2nd hand furniture. With these furniture, we were able to have a permanent mini library that students can come in anytime to read a book. 2 beds were purchased and these give the teacher a decent bed to sleep instead of a raised timber board.

Our well at the Old Hope School finally done its last “duty” The pump broke down and thankfully a donation came in to assist us to buy a new pump. The glee from the face of the students were enough to tell us that this new pump is really appreciated by them.
